Let’s begin – Issue #001

What is RankMakers about?

Usually, SEO is seen as a complicated science that only a few can understand. Even though there is a level of complexity, as with any marketing topic, the truth is that a lot of the SEO work can be done with some guidance, a little effort, and maybe with the help of an SEO tool (not always required).

But the most important thing that is required is consistency

SEO is not complicated

All it takes are consistent daily actions

What are you going to do today to improve your SEO?

Well, this is exactly what RankMakers is all about.

In every email, I’m going to share with you specific SEO tips, suggestions, and ideas that you can implement to consistently improve your SEO.

What’s in it for you

This is a huge one and I’m not going to beat around the bush. If you are a SaaS founder, product developer, or Indie Maker, you need SEO!

Sure, SEO takes time to bring in results, but once you manage to rank on Google for your top keywords, you will open up the flow of new leads and users for your SaaS or digital products.

Even if you stop tweeting or if your ad budget runs out, SEO will continue to generate organic traffic that you can convert into more users and increase sales. If you are into SaaS, think of it as an evergreen way to increase your MRR

That is what’s in it for you. Interesting, right?cing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Who I am

If you got this first issue in your inbox, then you probably know me from Twitter, but if you don’t, here’s a very quick overview:

My name is Roberto Robles from Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

I’ve been working in SEO for about 15 years now. For the last 10 years or so I’ve been running my own SEO agency.

3 years ago, I got into SaaS. My most recent product is KatLinks, an SEO tool for SaaS websites.

Probably not relevant, but I have 9 cats and 3 dogs

But enough about me (if you want to know something specific, just reply to this email and ask), let’s get into the reason why you are here.

Actionable SEO Tip of the Week

Website load speed

Sorry if you were expecting something sexier, but to be honest, there is nothing hotter than a website that loads fast

Why is this important? Google LOVES fast-loading websites because they provide a great user experience. And after the recent Page Experience update, this is more important than ever before.

The first thing you need to do is check the current speed of your website. To do that, here are a couple of tools you can use:

PageSpeed Insights – This is Google’s own tool, so I always start with this one to get a general overview.

GTmetrix – I use this when I want to get more detailed technical information.

What you will need to do to improve your website speed will vary depending on the issues found by the tools.

It may seem somewhat technical, but you will be able to fix most of the issues with the help of a caching solution, a Content Delivery Network (CDN), and image compression.

Caching: This is a great solution when you have a dynamic website (like WordPress). What this does is create a static version of your pages, avoiding the need to move data back and forth from the database every time a page is rendered. You can use a WordPress plugin like WP Rocket or WP Super Cache.

If you are not using WordPress, you can check with your hosting provider to see if they have server-side caching like LiteSpeed Cache.

Content Delivery Network: A CDN does exactly what the name says. It delivers the content of your website from networks that are closer to the user, thus resulting in faster download times. You can use something like Cloudflare or Bunny CDN.

Image compression: Images are the elements that can impact load speed the most. I’ve seen it a lot of times, designers that upload images to the web exactly as they were exported from photoshop, resulting in huge images that take forever to download. The solution is to use image compression software for the web. You can use something like ShortPixel or TinyPNG.

Of course, there’s a lot more you can do to improve your website load speed, for example, setting up LazyLoading, but these suggestions will fix most of the issues and get you on the right track to a better-optimized website.

SaaS Showcase of the Week

Sure, SEO can drive traffic to your website, but that’s just the start. You now have to do whatever it takes to convert that traffic into leads and paying users.

One of the best ways to do it is by generating trust in your visitors. People buy from people they trust, but how can they trust you when they don’t know you? By seeing that others have trusted you before.

There’s no better way of achieving that than with testimonials. This brings us to this week’s SaaS showcase.

Collect video and social testimonials from your users and share them with everyone who lands on your website. Check out how we did it with the KatLinks Wall of Love.
